SARTQ Artist Collective presents Light and Dark at Art Ovation

SARTQ Artist Collective, Sarasota’s collective of professional artists, presents Light and Dark at Art Ovation Hotel’s Crescent Gallery in downtown Sarasota from May 10 - November 4, 2024. OPENING RECEPTION Thursday 6pm May 30, join us for the free and public opening reception and/or rsvp for your reception dinner here.

Art Ovation Hotel says its mission is to “inspire creativity.” The Light and Dark exhibition, an example of this curatorial endeavor, explores “the deeper meaning of duality,” says ceramicist Taylor Robenalt, Co-Director of SARTQ Artist Collective. “Each artist’s interpretation on the theme creates a dialogue that explores the relationship between these two extremes.”

The collection of artworks in the exhibit offers a comprehensive view of life, from its brightest vibrancy to the darkest moments.

Light and Dark is an exhibition that “will challenge viewers to think about the subconscious mind in new and unexpected ways,” says local artist and SARTQ Co-Director Julie Kanapaux.

Participating artists in the exhibit include Dianna de Avila, Lori Childers, Danielle Dygert, Zachary Gilliland, Grace Howl, Julie Kanapaux, Ellen Kantro, Pamela Olin, Dana Lang, Taylor Robenalt, Javier (Javo) Rodriguez, and Emmie Wells.

SARTQ Artist Collective’s name underscores their connection to the region, was founded in 2008 and quickly expanded, gaining the attention of many local enthusiasts. SARTQ aims to maintain a network of accomplished Sarasota and Manatee County artists, manage exhibitions and events,

and collaborate with the community.

Light and Dark is running for six months, May 10th through November 4th, 2024 in Art Ovation’s Crescent Gallery at 1255 North Palm Avenue, Sarasota, FL. The gallery is open to the public adjacent to the hotel lobby.
